Enhancing Asia-Pacific communities through investing in women’s development
Net Balance is excited to announce a new, 3 year partnership with the International Women’s Development Agency (IWDA).
“IWDA is an inspiring, Melbourne-based development organisation making a positive difference to communities throughout the Asia-Pacific through their women’s development work,” says Terence Jeyaretnam, Net Balance Director. “We see alignment in the mutual commitment of our two organisations to sustainability and human rights, and look forward to working as partners in the years ahead.”
IWDA is the only Australian development organization entirely focused on women’s rights and gender equality. IWDA’s vision is for a just, equitable and sustainable world where women have a powerful voice in economic, cultural, civil and political life. IWDA is secular, not-for-profit and works in national and international partnership to create positive change (more at http://www.iwda.org.au).
Net Balance and IWDA envisage a long-term partnership with mutual benefits for both parties: deeper employee and client engagement and gender awareness for Net Balance; strengthened support for IWDA’s international programs; and opportunities to increase awareness of IWDA’s work within the corporate and general community.
As part of the partnership, Net Balance and its staff will get involved in fundraising for IWDA, participate in and promote IWDA events, and learn more about IWDA’s work and the role of women’s empowerment and gender equality in enhancing social, economic and cultural outcomes.
Net Balance has already been engaging with IWDA over the last 6 months, firstly through the Christmas Campaign, and then through sponsorship and attendance of their Half the Sky event in Melbourne for International Women’s Day 2012. Next up is attendance of their fundraising screening of The Lady around the country, and joining with IWDA for Run Melbourne in July.
